This section introduces participants to the foundational aspects of infection prevention and control. Topics include the structure of infection control programs, patient safety, risk management, the chain of infection, and standards and isolation precautions. The course objective is to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge to identify infection processes and implement effective prevention and control measures.
Participants will delve into surveillance techniques and epidemiological investigations in infection prevention and control. Topics include surveillance bundles, surgical site infection (SSI) prevention, catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI), ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), bloodstream infection (BSI) prevention, infection control guidelines, and specific guidelines for hemodialysis and dental practices. The course objective is to develop participants' skills in monitoring and investigating infections to implement effective prevention strategies.
This section covers the management of supportive services and quality improvement in infection prevention and control. Topics include healthcare waste management, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization (CSSD), laundry and nutritional department infection control guidelines, occupational health programs, accreditation processes, antimicrobial stewardship programs, chemotherapy guidelines, and water hygiene. The course objective is to ensure that healthcare professionals can manage infection prevention programs effectively and achieve quality improvement and accreditation standards.

This course aims to enhance infection prevention and control by equipping healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and skills across three key areas: Identification of Infection Process & Practice of Infection Prevention & Control; Surveillance and Epidemiological Investigation of Infection Prevention & Control; and Supportive Services, Program Management, Quality Improvement & Accreditation of Infection Prevention and Control. Participants will learn to identify and prevent infections, conduct epidemiological investigations, manage supportive services, and achieve quality improvement and accreditation standards. The ultimate goal is to ensure high standards of infection control in healthcare settings.
